Most
organisations are aware of the importance of testing within
their software development life-cycle. In fact, research has
shown that the test process frequently accounts for 40% of the
cost of software development. With the current growth trend
in the software industry, it is now becoming increasingly important
for organisations to adopt a structured approach to software
testing.

The
Test Management approach (TMap), now widely used throughout
Europe, provides a structured approach to software testing,
which is based on four cornerstones:
- A
life-cycle approach to testing
- Solid
organisational embedding
- The
right resources and infrastructure
- Usable
techniques for testing activities
This two-day course will provide a detailed insight into the
TMap approach, focusing on key issues of software testing,
including structured testing, the development of a testing
strategy, test estimation, inspections, testing techniques,
use cases, usability testing, testing tools and metrics.
On
completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Develop
a testing strategy and test plan for their project
- Estimate
the resources required
- Introduce
inspections into the software life-cycle
- Introduce
suitable testing techniques, while minimising the overlap
between different types of testing e.g. system test/acceptance
test
- Carry
out an evaluation of suitable testing tools
- Gather
relevant metrics
