The
Unified Modelling Language (UML) can be used for specifying,
visualising and constructing the elements of software systems.
It can also be used for business modelling. The language ensures
that large and complex systems can be modelled successfully.
Due to the rapid increase in the complexity of system requirements,
successful modelling is an essential task. UML has now been
adopted as a standard by the Object Management Group.
Who
should attend? |
The
event will be of interest to designers, analysts and
programmers who will participate in developing new Object
Oriented projects using visual modelling techniques.
It will also be of interest to software development
managers who will be responsible for leading new development
work in the Object Oriented paradigm. Other staff in
your organisation who need to interpret UML visual models,
would also benefit from attending.
It
is essential that participants have already had exposure
to Object Oriented concepts.

The
purpose of this seminar is for participants to understand the
power of visual modeling using UML. Participants will be taken
through the main components of the UML using examples where
possible. Delegates will be given an overview of the entire
UML notation including functional, static and dynamic modeling
aspects. Detailed consideration will be given to the most important
aspects of UML including Use Cases, Class, Sequence and State
Diagrams. The issues of the origins of UML and the effect it
may have on object oriented development methods will also be
addressed.
At
the end of this seminar you will be able to:
- Understand
the power of visual modelling;
- Describe
the main elements that make up the UML notation;
- Apply
aspects of the notation to build visual models;
- Understand
the extensibility of the language;
- Identify
development methods that can utilise the UML.
