Objective

The course provides an overview of the agile approach. Agile development is now a mature way of carrying out software projects. It is strongly influenced by the many methodologies which consider the agile approach from each perspective, the business and its users, the developers and other technical personnel, and the project managers and the project office.

The course is relevant to senior software engineers, project managers, software development managers, product managers, CIOs and CTOs. The course will be presented over two days.

Course Content

Topics will consider these perspectives and how they are represented in an agile environment. The course addresses changes required to work in an agile environment and it highlights tools and techniques employed in agile projects. The course contains many special exercises.

Overview of Agile Methods: background to lean business and agile engineering and
associated concepts
Influences of SCRUM, eXtreme Programming, DSDM and other methods in the operation of Agile Projects and the Agile Life Cycle
Agile Project Planning: principles in planning an agile project and roles of an agile team
Estimating: ways of estimating in an agile project
Agile Project Team Operation: translating requirements, the special role of testing, the development environment
Agility - Discipline Assessment: methods to discover issues that might arise for an organisation moving from a "traditional environment; readiness for an agile project.
