Background

The Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMIÒ) is an internationally recognised model which provides a framework for organisations to improve their ability to develop and maintain quality products and services. It is intended that organisations will adopt this model to their business goals and objectives by providing flexibility. The goal is to improve efficiency, return on investment and effectiveness.

The CMMIÒ provides two representations, either continuous or staged, and allows you to determine which best suits your needs. The staged approach is similar to the software CMMÒ and organises process areas into 5 maturity levels to support and guide your process improvements. The continuous approach allows you to select the order of improvement that best suits your business objectives. During this introduction course the basic concepts and structure of both representations will be presented. Explanations on each process area and practices are exactly the same for each representation.

This course will help your organisation to understand the structure and content of the CMMIÒ model.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at those responsible for establishing and driving process improvement programs in their organisations and who wish to find out more about the suitability of the CMMIÒ as a model to address their needs. It is also suitable for organisations who already are effectively using the CMMÒ but who wish to learn more about the CMMIÒ and the changes with the CMM®.

CMMI® is registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
