SCALE OUT NOT UP“Scaling Up” is a term used to describe upgrading the existing processing power and memory of a server machine. In the case of a high end server this may be a big investment. A more economical alternative is to design your application to “Scale Out”. Scaling Out means that more processing power and increased performance can be achieved simply by adding a new box to your existing system. Of course scaling out means you need to design your application to effectively use distributed object technology.
